![]() It seems to be acting like it doesn't recognize your code.Īlso, you should check the alignment of the door lock to the door frame strike plate, using the manual turnlock(T-turn) to check it. Under normal circumstances you do not need to reprogram the lock after changing batteries, but I would do it anyway. I suggest changing the batteries and reprogramming the lock. Example: If there are 2 ways for the tailpiece to fit in the deadbolt unit when the deadbolt is retracted and only one way for the tailpiece to fit in when the deadbolt is extended, then install the lock with the deadbolt extended and you can't install it wrong. The best way to install a deadbolt lock without the instructions handy is to look at the "lazy" cam and see if there is a way to install it wrong and don't install it that way. They are designed to fail in a way that keeps them locked, so this could be a sign that someone tried to break in, or that someone used the extended bolt as a way to stop the door from closing and it hit the door frame too hard.) (If it's not the timing problem, then the deadbolt unit is defective or broken. Usually Kwikset locks are designed so you can't put it in the wrong way, but it can happen. It's called a "timing" problem and the way to fix it is to take it off the door, turn the tailpiece a half circle and put it back on the door. Kind of like the way big brown boxes are the industry standard in 'conventional' file transfers.I presume you figured it out by now, but if the tailpiece is installed wrong in many deadbolts, the key won't come out in one position or the other. Would I recommend to a friend.Ĭompressed formats like ZIP, RAR and CAB are the industry standard in digital file transfers. I was finally able to get it to accept a new code so I left it at that. Third problem, it is difficult to get it to go in programming mode, usually gets an error. Second one was not waterproof so moisture caused it to consume batteries. Failure list First one was incorrectly assembled and failed on it's first operation. Two were defective and one is very difficult to program. The only thing I am waiting to see is how long the batteries will last before needing to be replaced but I would think that would not be more than once or twice a year. Would definitely consider getting another one, if needed. Have removed and entered different codes for my guests and no one has encountered any problems. Once I did a 'reset' as recommended in the directions, everything went smooth the second time. I did have a little trouble initially getting the keypad to work correctly, but that was my misunderstanding of the directions. Installed on wooden door replacing an existing deadbolt and it lined up almost perfectly so no problems there. ![]() Looked at several digital keypad locks - some over twice the cost - and decided on this one.
